A study measuring the tendency of the technological infrastructure to industry 4.0: A business case in the fertilizer sector in Samsun

Industry 4.0 revolution. Since the day it first appeared in the literature at the Hannover fair in 2011, it has undoubtedly brought the whole world to a different technological dimension. With this new concept, which is built on the main idea of ​​using internet technologies in industry, it is aimed to digitize production processes. Industry 4.0 revolution. In the global competitive environment, companies have had a significant impact on keeping up with the change and maintaining their competitive structure due to the changing competitive conditions. Although it has started to be implemented under the leadership of high-tech countries, awareness of this new revolution has been created in our country. There are steps taken by the state and private sector towards Industry 4.0. The main aim of the study is to measurement of the suitability and inclination of the technological infrastructure of the Samsun production facility of a fertilizer to Industry 4.0 technologies. Findings were obtained by using the descriptive analysis method of the data obtained in this study, which used in-depth interview technique, one of the qualitative research methods. As a result of the study, it has been concluded that the company has a high awareness of Industry 4.0, that they will make changes in their production processes according to Industry 4.0, but Industry 4.0 technologies cannot be fully applied because they are a chemical facility, and that there are R&D activities to carry out their production with Industry 4.0 technologies in their new facilities under construction. It is another result obtained as a result of the study, in which the components of Industry 4.0 technologies are also used within the enterprise.
