The effects of technological developments on Turkish Folk instruments

Our Turkish folk music instruments have been an important tool in conveying the feelings and thoughts of our people from past to present. Globalization has created various effects on the production and performance of our traditional instruments, as in many other fields. The research focuses on the effects of globalization and technological progress on Turkish music instruments and what kind of changes and developments are experienced accordingly. The research has a descriptive feature and aims to determine the current situation. During the research process, the literature on the subject was scanned and the opinions of field experts were consulted on many issues. Starting from this point, it has been tried to obtain some results based on various findings and evidence. The research was limited to traditional Turkish folk music instruments. When some of the results obtained in the research are listed, it is seen that Turkish folk music instruments have an important place in Turkish music history. It has been observed that these instruments have been more or less affected by technological developments, and some of these effects have affected the volume and sound structure of the instruments and some have caused various changes in the organological structure of the instrument. With the arrival of some innovations in the production process of the instruments, the applications in the transition stages to mass production were mentioned, The development processes of building materials in lathes, which facilitate the work of instrument makers, are discussed. When considered in terms of execution, it has been tried to convey that it has both positive and negative effects and what the reflections of these effects are on the society. Some of the first things that come to our minds will be the subject of how work needs to be done and the opinions about how the future processes will work.
