Abstract (EN)

The innovations that technological developments bring to our lives also affect our daily habits and lifestyle, causing them to change. Ecological concerns arise because the environmental factors arising from the fast production and consumption approach of fashion harm nature. Production methods that reduce ecological concerns are aimed for this situation, which requires awareness in daily life and industrial terms. In denim design, a contribution is made to sustainable design and production thanks to environmentally friendly ecological techniques and approaches such as waste reuse and recycling, as well as new perspectives in line with today's fashion understanding. The decisions taken by the designers from the design and production phase to post-production contribute to the process. By converting the clothes and fabric pieces that are separated into waste into fabric or different design values, their useful life can be extended in a different dimension. In this thesis, the wastes from denim production, the way these wastes are reused, the methods/techniques used by designers in approaches such as recycling and upcycling are examined and the possibilities of using waste denim fabrics and clothing in textile design are studied. After the experimental surface creation studies by applying different physical and chemical methods to denim waste, original clothing designs were made. Thus, denim wastes are recycled and transformed into original designs with an environmentally friendly approach.
