Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this thesis, the communicaiton performance of a missile telemetry system is evaluated with its specific dynamics and the performance parameters are analyzed and compared. During the missile flight tests, with instead of a war head carrying explosive load, the test missiles are equipped with a trial head; to sample and send the real time sensor measurements' data via telemetry link over the channel to the ground station, with the purpose of real time evaluation and recording for post analyzing. With the usage of real time evaluation of the telemetry data, the test results are then compared with the simulated data to decide whether the missile succeeded or not. Flight tests, a crucial step in qualification of missiles, are quite difficult and expensive to repeat. Therefore during the tests, proper collection of telemetry data is of high importance. Thus, telemetry hardware/ software systems are standardized and characteristics of communication between the test vehicle and ground station are pre-determined. In this thesis, a telemetry data link is simulated with Matlab Simulink and is compared to and confirmed with a programmable software defined hardware. Subsequently, a telemetry channel is modeled with, digital modulation techniques of BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, FSK and channel coding techniques of convolutional coding and Golay coding on top. The channel is modelled to suffer AWGN and Rician fading. The BER and bandwidth performances of these applications are compared to reach a feasable and effiencient telemetry system design in the end.
