Abstract (EN)

One of the most effective ways for children to express their feelings and thoughts is painting. Painting is a universal language for all children. The child gives us information about himself and his environment in many subjects through painting. Differences in children's environment, visual perceptions and drawings, cultural and social differences make them privileged individuals. Just as the cognitive, physical and social development of the child is affected by environmental factors, the artistic development of the child is also affected by environmental factors. It is aimed to examine Lowenfeld's artistic development stages, based on children's drawings and expert opinions, of the predicted change in 21st century conditions for children within the scope of basic education. The research was carried out in the 2020-2021 academic year in Hatay province, based on the opinions of children and academicians studying in schools at different socioeconomic levels. In the study, which was carried out with the qualitative research method, the students were provided to draw pictures. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with four academicians whose field of study is art. Research data were analyzed with document and descriptive analysis technique. According to the findings of the study, although children are exposed to too many stimulants today, the drawings of children of the same age generally coincide with the same period, since the age ranges are kept wide in the artistic development stages that Lowenfeld revealed in the 1960s and it progresses in parallel with the cognitive development.
