Abstract (EN)

As a constantly developing country, Turkey inevitably tries to adapt to all kinds of changes brought by the age. During this change process, its population is also increasing. This increase in population density also reveals the necessity of increasing the number of schools in order to provide modern education and training services to future and new generations while planning the renewal processes of cities. Schools are expected to both protect and sustain the existing social structure, direct the society they are in, and advance it at the level required by the age. For this reason, schools should be structures that are constantly evolving and open to change. This dynamism can be achieved by locating schools in appropriate physical areas. In this study; It will be tried to reveal whether the location selection of basic education school buildings in Akçaabat district was made correctly or not. Regarding the subject, 43 schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education (MEB) in Akçaabat District were determined and implemented according to the school site selection criteria in our country's legislation. Selected schools according to MEB criteria; They were evaluated according to their distance from earthquakes, landslides, access (transportation), water resources, fuel stations, energy lines and places of worship. As a result, it was seen that all schools met sufficient criteria for location selection.
