Abstract (EN)

The aim of research study is to determine the student views on the compatibility of use of open ended questions alongside multiple choice questions in large scale examinations. The reasearch is a combined method research that obligates the use of qualitative and quantitive research. As for the qualitative part, a form of interview was developed by the researcher and the participants to whom this form was to be applied were picked by the homogenious sampling method, a type of the intentional sampling methods. Datum retrieved out of the interview were analyzed by the content analysis method and 11 distinctive themes were attained. As for the quantitative part of the work, a survey was developed by the researcher. The responses given to the survey items were analysed by the decriptive statistical method. Layered sampling method was utilized for the quantitative part of the work and applied to eight graders in a specified school from each part of the educational district. As the result of the work, students were observed to be sure that their knowledge would be thoroughly measured regardless of the type of the questions used. Students were also observed to state that the use of multiple-choice questions would matter to a great degree in terms of the objectivity and scoring the open ended questions would be tough in terms of rater reliability.
