Abstract (EN)

Temmoku glazes take part in among the artistic glazes. They do not require the use of any special materials. These glazes contain the most common material such as feldspar, talc, dolomite and whiting.There are the most two important factor in obtaining Temmoku glaze. The first important factor is glaze recipe and the thickness of glaze. The second important factor is firing atmosphere. Temmoku glazes are created by the thermal reduction of iron in glazes during the firing process. Generally temmoku glazes have successful results at the high temperatures.This study has four parts. The description, historical development and specification of temmoku glazes are found in the first part. Ceramic artists working on Temmoku glazes and works of them are stated in the second part. Raw material and coloring oxides used in producing temmoku glazes and the firing technique are explained in the third part. In the fourth part, glaze recipes were prepared mixing different materials for Temmoku glazes. Those recipes were applied to stoneware bodies and fired at 1200 ºC. Results are evaluated and selected glaze recipes for temmoku glazes. Temmoku glazes with optimum results were applied on pre-designed ceramic forms.
