Abstract (EN)

The patients with temporal lobe epilepsy were diagnosed focal focus with EEG and the perfusion changes which were calculated by using rCBV, rCBF, MTT and compared with normal control group. Twenty-one cases were diagnosed of temporal focus with EEG and twenty-one patients who had without neurologic complaints except for headache were included in to study. The measurement was made at working group in postictal period in three hours. The images obtained by using dynamic suspectibility contrast were performed at workstation and rCBV, rCBF and MTT values were calculated at both hipocampus. The rCBV and rCBF values doesn?t increase compared with control group on the right and left of hipocampus (P>0.05), because the majority of pathologies in our study group had formed bilateral mesial temporal sclerosis. In 29 patients of 21 patients diagnosed bilateral mesial temporal sclerosis, the other two patients were diagnosed as epileptic focus releated to right temporal lobe. The MTT doesn?t increase compared with control group but rCBV and rCBF values increased compared with control group. It was thought that increase of rCBV and rCBF values in postictal period on the epileptic focus duo to the vasodilatation. Key Words: Perfusion magnetic resonance imaging, Epilepsy of temporal lobe, rCBV, rCBF, MTT, Echo planar imaging.
