Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to evaluate clinical and psychopathological features of patients with temporomandibular disorders, to compare the effects of low level laser treatment, ozone therapy, stabilization splint, behavioral therapy and to investigate of self limiting behavior of the temporomandibular disorders in control group. 102 patients are included in this study which were randomly allocated to six groups (low level laser treatment, ozone theraphy, stabilization splint, behavioral theraphy, healthy control and check list). Research Diagnostic Criteria Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC)/TMD Axis I, Axis II and SCL 90 R Inventory were applied to each patients. Statistical analysis was performed with IBM SPSS Statistics 22 programe for comparison of study groups before and after treatment. TMJ pain on palpation, vertical and eccentric range of motion with pain, openning pattern, joint sounds, depression, anxiety, and somatization levels of patients was evaluated before and after treatment. Considering the treatment groups, low level laser treatment seems to be the most effective group in increasing of vertical range of motion and reduction of TMJ pain on palpation. Ozone therapy was effective in increasing amount of lateral movement and all treatment groups showed significant improvement in protrusion. Laser treatment group was the most effective way for reduction joint sounds and VAS pain scores. Considering the SCL 90 R results behavioral therapy group showed decline in levels of depression and anxiety. It was determined that low level laser treatment was effective on improving of the symptoms of TMD and reduction joint sounds and pain. Unassisted opening without pain and VAS scores exhibited improvement in the check list group. Behavioral therapy was effective in reducing Depression, anxiety and somatization levels. Key words: Temporomandibular disorders, low level laser treatment, ozone therapy, occlusal splint therapy, behavioral therapy, patient check list.
