Examining the critical thinking and empathic tendencies of tennis coaches

In this study, the relationship between the critical thinking and empathic tendencies of tennis coaches was examined and the effects of some demographic variables on these characteristics were evaluated. In this study, which was carried out with the quantitative research method, 647 tennis coaches actively working in Turkey were accepted as the universe and a total of 180 tennis coaches, 137 men and 43 women, participated in the study on a voluntary basis. Personal information form, Critical Thinking Attitude Scale and Empathic Tendency Scale were used to collect data, and "Independent Sample t-Test", "One Way ANOVA", "Pearson Correlation Coefficient" and "Multiple Linear Regression Analysis" tests were used in their analysis. Within the framework of the findings, it was determined that there is a positive relationship between the critical thinking attitudes of tennis coaches and their empathic disposition skills, if the monthly income level is below a certain limit, the critical thinking ability is negatively affected by this, and as the experience of coaching years increases, the ability to set a hypothesis also increases. While it is considered as a possible situation that some demographic variables such as gender and marital status do not cause a significant change on critical thinking ability and empathic disposition skills, the fact that critical thinking ability and empathic disposition skill levels are similar despite the increase in education level and especially in coaching level. It is thought that it highlights the argument that the stages of the education process should be reviewed in context.
