Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi bünyesinde cumhuriyetçi düşünce ve demokrasi arasındaki gerilim

The main objective of this thesis is to demonstrate that the existence of a ?tension between the republican idea and the democracy within the Republican People?s Party (CHP)" in Turkey. The referendum on the constitutional change which took place on September 12th, 2010 provoked a grave crisis within the CHP. It is widely criticized by the public opinion that a party like the CHP, both defining itself social democrat and definitely refusing the project of constitutional change, where the current constitution . Consequently, the republican ideology conveyed by the CHP has become the center of further questioning nowadays.
