Abstract (EN)
This thesis studied in the eastern south of Hazar Lake which is at the approximately 30 kilometers southeast of the Elazig. Samples were taken from green mudstones of the Maastrichtian-Early Eocene Hazar Group, red mudstones, which are alternating with volcanoclastics of Middle Eocene Maden Complex. Clay mineralogy and geochemical characteristics were studied using these samples. Units in the study area from older to younger; Upper Jurassic - Lower Cretaceous Guleman Ophiolites, Maastrichtian - Eocene Hazar Group, Middle Eocene Maden Complex and Plio- Quaternary, Quaternary alluviums. In laboratuary works , optical microscope, X-ray diffraction (XRD ) whole rock and clay fraction studies, geochemical analysis ( ICP-AES and ICP-MS ) studies have been performed . Samples were taken from Hatunköy section, which provide a good surface as Maden Complex and Hazar Group . Optical microscopic studies show that secondary calcite formations were encountered on broken and cracks in the clay matrix in greenish-gray shale of samples. Maden Complex, consists of andesite and basaltic rocks, contain plagioclase, amphibole, pyroxene, calcite, epidote and chlorite minerals. Spilitic basalt samples of Maden Complex contain plagioclase, olivine, pyroxene, calcite, epidote and chlorite minerals. Sericitization andesitic and basaltic rocks contain clay minerals and carbonates. All minerals are at similar rates in both formations. Respectively, feldspar, clay minerals, calcite and kuvas available. Both formations were encountered to the Chlorite and illite. Major elements, trace elements, rare earth elements (REE) of Hazar Group from Hatunköy section offers similar with Sebken section which contain In Hazar Group. Cr element is higher than Sebken section. Cr element of the Hatunköy section must have come from the following ophiolite. Chondrite normalized diagram show that Maden Complex and Hazar Group of Hatunköy section is very close to Sebken samples of Hazar Group with the enrichment factor ranged from 10-100. Light rare earth elements (HNT) was lower than North American shales (NASC) . La / Y, La / Sc, Th / Sc, Sc / C, Ti / Zr, Cr / Th, Zr / Hf, Cr / Ni, Th / Co, Th / C, U / Th, Ni / Co, V / Cr, Cu / Zn ratios are similar in Hazar Group and Maden Complex. Rates of La / Sc, Sc / Th, Co / Th show that, these samples are similar to andesite. Log (SiO2 / Al2O3) versus log (Fe2O3 / K2O) of the sample show that samples are Fe rich shales. Zr / Sc, Th / Sc, Y / Ni,Cr / V diagrams show that examples are in the PAAS area, because of origin of more acidic content of PAAS. Fe / Ti, Al / (Al + Fe + Mn) show that examples are not in hydrothermal field. All samples are tholeiitic character in the diagram Y-TiO2. According to Zr / Ti, SiO2 diagram, Hazar Group and Maden Group samples are in the subalkaline basalt, andesite , rhyodacites fields.
