Abstract (EN)
Although it is a foreign species for Turkey, plantations have been established in large areas in Turkey, especially in the Marmara Region Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Aiton) has been one of the first tree species that comes to mind in the plantations established for industrial purposes due to its rapid development and in dune detection due to its contentment. Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Aiton) stands, which were planted in the 1960s in order to prevent dune movements that threaten Terkos Lake, one of the important water resources of Istanbul province, have aged and have completed their rotation. This study was carried out in order to determine the regeneration methods that can be applied in the maritime pine stands around Terkos Lake. Within the scope of the research, the physical properties of the maritime pine seed, germinative energy and germination rate, seed maturation time, seed distribution times, climate and soil characteristics of the Terkos region were determined. Among the regeneration methods that may be suitable for the biology of the maritime pine, the clearfelling system based + spreading on natural regeneration, the compartment method based on natural regeneration and the clearfelling system based + sapling planting on artificial regeneration were applied in the research area. Conifer spreading trials (intensive, medium-dense, low-intensity and control in spring and autumn) were established in 15 fixed trial areas of 400 m2 in natural rejuvenation areas based on branch laying. It has been understood that the best youths come to the control areas and less dense areas in autumn branch laying. Compartment method based on natural regeneration, the crown closure rates were reduced to 60%, 40% and 20% in 9 trial areas of 400 m2. It was understood that there was no significant difference in the number of youth coming to the field. For the clearfelling system + sapling planting trials based on artificial regeneration, bare rooted, enso type and tube sapling planting trials were carried out at 3m x 2m spacing in 9 fixed trial areas of 400 m2. The percentage of catching and survival of tubed seedlings was at the level of 90%. As a result, in order to increase the success of natural regeneration of maritime pine stands around Terkos Lake and whose administration period has expired, it is recommended that the regeneration area by laying coniferous branches in a thin layer. It is recommended that the production activities and branch laying applications in the area be carried out in August, September, and October and to leave the area before the autumn germination starts in November. In case of a possible failure, it is recommended to prefer tubed seedlings in the completion planting application.
