Abstract (EN)
Our country, is dependent heavily on outside sources, in respect to energy resources. When a type of energy, electricity is the case; approximately 55% of electricity is provided from the imported sources, if natural gas, coal, and fuel oil sources are taken into account. The thesis subject; Financial Feasibility for Thermic Power Plants is prepared in order to draw attention to energy, which is an extremely actual subject nowadays. One of the sources of Thermic Power Plants, is coal. Our country is rich in lignite resources which are used in Thermic Power Plants. Through Lignite Coal, which is one of our natural resources, we can both reduce the external dependence in energy, and we can also consider it as an efficient alternative energy as well. It is known that, oil has 40 years more, natural gas has 65 years more and coal has 240 years more proved reserves, within the known fossil fuels. Another economically vital subject is that, it is possible to use the low-calorie coal in Thermic Power Plants, which normally cannot be used at home and in industry. The thesis includes, the examination of financial feasibility of the Thermic Power Plant, which is planned to be built in Orta district, in Çankırı province, at 135 MW. The financial data of the sample application considered in this context, which will effect the investment decisions are examined in various aspects. For the first time, in this thesis study, the subjects regarding how the financial feasibility of the Thermic Power Plant will be assessed under risky environments and how the investment decisions will be made, are also examined.Keywords1.
