The role of propaganda in gaining follower for terror organism: Turkish Al Qaeda

To figure out the role of performed propaganda activity in providing follower process of the active terrorist generations proponent/related to Al Qaeda terror organization in our country and to locate the propaganda instruments used in follower providing, is constitute the primary objective of this thesis.Theoretic explanations about terror and propaganda concepts have been mentioned inside the thesis. The theses that are reformed from experimental studies, which are performed about terror organizations follower providing process and group generation and joining the group process in social psychology, have been examined. Follower providing process of the constitutions that are performing activities in our country proponent/related to Al Qaeda terror organization, has been explained and important role of propaganda in this process has been emphasized.Literature scanning is done to put forward the aspects to shed light on our study and figure out the background of terror and propaganda subjects. Theoretical frame has been determined by handling the communication model that Lasswell has been formulized as ?Who, what said, in which channel, to whom, with how much effect? in terms of propaganda.It has been seen in the examined books and websites that the propaganda instruments has been consists of religious terminologies (the subjects and concepts that have been subject of the discussions in Islam history) and motifs, in this concepts ?jihad? comes front, and this concept becomes determiner of the used rhetoric by closely covering other concepts and motifs.Key Words: Terror, Al Qaeda, Jihad, Propaganda, Providing follower.
