Analysis of problems and solutions strategies educators subjected to terrorism in terms of crisis management

This study examines the problems which educators had been exposed to terrorism and the strategies of their solution in the context of crisis management. The conceptual dimension of the study was obtained by scanning the literature. While examining the conceptual dimension, the problems of educators working in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Regions, where terrorism is intense in our country, are emphasized. The relationship between terrorism and education was also examined. The research is a qualitative study and it's a Phenomenological model. The phenomenological model is used for studies investigating cases in which we are not completely unfamiliar but cannot fully comprehend the details. The working group of the study consists of 17 female and 14 male educators working in the province of Istanbul in the 2018 - 2019 academic year and served in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Region for a part of their professional life and exposed to terrorism there. Interviews were conducted by face-to-face interview method using semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher and recorded with voice recorder. In the study, data analysis was conducted with "content analysis technique". As a result of the research, it is seen that the problems of educators have been continuing for years and there is no solution against these problems in areas where terrorism is intense in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia. Educators have many problems in the region in terms of physical, psychological, social, cultural and human relations. Most of the educators tend to leave the region as soon as possible due to the terrorist incidents, living conditions and crisis situations. This situation has a negative effect on education as there is a continuous circulation of teachers in the region. Various suggestions have been made such as eliminating the physical problems experienced in the region, improving the living conditions of the educators, providing security in schools and cities, solving the language problem, arranging the trainings in order to change the perspective of the people of the region on terrorism and ensuring that the education faculties are suitable for real life.
