Abstract (EN)

Ever growing concern for environmental problems and economic pressures for corporate profits are forcing manufacturers and retailers to look very hard at cost controls. Reverse logistics is one of the few remaining opportunities that has not yet received much attention. Firms that develop reverse logistics strategy programs relatively late compared to their competitors are at a disadvantage since it is an untapped strategy especially for cost saving opportunity. One of the effective application areas of reverse logistics is Defense Industry. In this concern; Turkey as being one of the emerging defense industries in the region is about to finalize a project equiped with the most modern tools and workshops for ammunitions to be modernized, remanifactured, recycled, disposed or resaled to compansate the expenses in Defense Industry. One of the main concerns of this project is being able to compatible with the environmental concern in the norms of EU while processing these activities. This project was awarded by NAMSA, NATO?s executive branch about the logistics, to a Turkish firm named Roketsan. Effective management of these reverse logistics planning and operational activities, compatible with environmental legislation, in Turkey aims to recycle, reuse, resale, redistribute, incinerate or dispose all kinds of ammunition and explosives in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner in terms of economies of scale.
