The effect of using the Flipped Classroom Model on Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge

This study aims to determine the effect of using the Flipped Classroom Model on attitudes in Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge courses. The study is quasi-experimental. It was carried out with 23 students studying in the 11B class at Gönül Kazancı Vocational Technical Anatolian High School in Elazığ Province. In the study, a nested mixed design, which is one of the mixed-method approaches, was adopted. In the quantitative dimension of the study, a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design was used to obtain quantitative data. The quantitative data collection tool, the Religious Culture and Moral Attitude Scale, was applied to the students in the study group. Action research was adopted in the qualitative part of the study, and a semi-structured interview method was used to obtain qualitative data. Pre-class lesson videos and in-class activities were applied to the group participating in the study. Using the findings obtained from data collection techniques, the hypotheses were tested by analyzing the effect level of the Flipped Classroom Model applied in the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge course on attitudes. The quantitative data obtained were analyzed with the SPSS 21 analysis program, and t-test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test were applied. NVIVO 8 analysis program was used in the analysis of qualitative data. As a result of the study, quantitative data show that the Flipped Classroom Model applied in the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge course has a positive effect on students' attitudes toward the course, and qualitative data show that students have positive opinions towards the Flipped Classroom Model applied in the RCM Knowledge.
