Test of pragmatic language-2 (topl-2) adaptation to Turkish

The aim of this research is to adaptation and standardization study of the "Test of Pragmatic Language-2 (TOPL-2)" measurement tool developed by Phelps-Terasaki and Phelps-Gunn (2007) to Turkish language in order to evaluate the pragmatic language skills of children aged 6-12. . The study group of the research included 260 tipic developed children and 52 children with developmental delay between the ages of six to twelve years attending the schools and institution chosen among 14 the primary schools and secondary schools that are affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, and special education and rehabilitation institutions in the central district of BOLU province. In the adaptation study of the test, international test adaptation principles were carefully applied. The entire sample group was included in the validity and reliability study of the test. As a result of the analysis, the reliability coefficient (KR-20) of the test was calculated as.0.98, Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient; PDT-2 for all .97, in PDT-2 sub-dimensions, Physical Context was calculated as .81, Audience as .95, Topic as .95, as Purpose .97, as Visual-Gestural Cues .84, as Abstractions .89. In the validity study, it was found that the test can distinguish the pragmatic language skills of children with normal development and developmental delay. As a result of item analysis, it was determined that item difficulty and item discrimination values were within acceptable limits. As a result of the study, it has been determined that the test is suitable for Turkish language and culture, has a high level of reliability and sufficient validity, and the test can be used to evaluate the pragmatic language skills of Turkish children.
