Abstract (EN)

Cadmium is a chemical commonly used in agricultural and industrial processes and is released into the environment causing air, soil and water pollution. Cadmium pollution, due to rapid industrial and agricultural developments, has become a common problem. Because exposure to cadmium is a risk for both the general population and certain occupational groups. Cadmium can remain in the body for up to 40 years, thus damaging human health for a long time and may affect reproductive hormone levels, reduce sperm quality and even cause male infertility. However, the mechanism studies underlying the testicular damage caused by cadmium are limited. However, the mechanisms that determine the toxicity of both male and female reproductive systems are not clear. In our thesis study, we examined the harmful effects of cadmium on rat testes and the importance of cell death in this process. 30 Wistar Albino male rats were divided into 5 groups. Groups The control group was arranged as Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 and acute dose group. Cadmium chloride was given to the rats by gavage for 21 days. At the end of the experiment, rats were sacrificed and testicular tissues were taken. Histological examination of the testes was done by histopathological examination and immunopositive cells were counted and the results were statistically analyzed. At the same time, testis weights were examined for development. As a result; In hematoxylin-eosin and rust staining, no histopathological findings were observed in the control group, while degenerative testicular tissue and abnormal seminiferous tubule structure were observed in Group 3 and acute doses. Beclin 1 expression was negative in all groups, while RIP3 expression was positive only in Group 1. While Caspase-3 positivity was high in Group 1 and Group 2 doses, it was decreased in Group 3 and negative in the acute group. The positivity of calretin was found to be high in Group 2, significant increase was seen in Group 1 and acute dose group and decreased in Group 3. We think that cadmium may have negative effects on urogenital system and be reevaluated with other studies. In this way, it will be possible to contribute to the determination of the appropriate methodology in the etiology and treatment of Cadmium mediated testicular injuries.
