The Law of Teaching Unification and the applications Of Atatürk Period

This study is based on the law of Teaching Unification and the applications in Atatürk?s period. The oldest educational constitutions are the moslem theological schools in the Ottoman Empire period. During the establishment and the rising periods, these constitutions answer the society?s educational needs. As the time passes they remained back of European ones. The governers of Ottoman Empire didn?t touchany of these schools in order the pass forward but they opened new constitutions which are modern and new. By opening of the minority and foreign schools, another point of view is added as the third one beside these theological schools and the others.Atatürk saw that the educational system was far from nationality and cut into pieces from the point of institutional system and aims. The educational system in Ottoman Empire was divided into three as, traditional and theological ones, minority and foreign schools and the modern ones. This was the biggest handicap of being a state which was national, independent and secular one.So on 3rd March 1924 the Law of Unification of Teaching was accepted in Turkish Grand National Assembly. While they were arguing on this subject, the most important part was to close the theological schools and to open new Religion- Orator Schools instead, and also to control the foreign schools. It will be mentioned especially why the Law of Unification of Teaching applied and the effect of foreign schools and the religious education.In this research, the information is given on the educational system of Ottoman Empire, the establishment of Law of Teaching Unification, the aspect of Atatürk?s Educational point of view and the effect on foreign schools by scanning of literature. The information will be given before the application of the law and the difficulties and changes after it.
