Abstract (EN)

This thesis examines a Miscellany housed in the National Library under the catalog number 06 HK 1155, which is believed to have been compiled in the 17th century. The mecmua predominantly consists of poetic works and some works of prose. The primary objective of this study was to transcribe the texts contained in the Miscellany. In the transcription process, previously published texts were compared with the Miscellany, and all differences were indicated in footnotes. One of the distinctive features of this Miscellany is its inclusion of Kadızade Şeyh Mehmed Efendi's daring poetic work, which critiques the social decay and administrative structures of the time, even addressing the reigning sultan in a bold tone. Similarly, Agehî's qasida, which incorporates maritime terminology and is rarely found in literary collections, is noteworthy. Additionally, the inclusion of poems by Hayretî, a poet from Vardar Yenicesi, and eulogies dedicated to a prominent and influential family in the region further distinguishes this Miscellany. The presence of Fazlî Çelebi's poems, written in a derogatory tone towards Jewish and Kızılbaş communities, sheds light on the compiler's ideological perspective. Ultimately, the findings suggest that the compilation of the Miscellany was not solely shaped by literary aesthetics but was also influenced by political considerations.
