Abstract (EN)

In spite of their high temperature and corrosion strength, ceramicsshow a brittle nature under applied load. This limits their usage areas tocompensate the weakness of ceramics with metal which has highductility, recently ceramic-metal composite materials are produced toimprove the strength of ceramics. In this study, ceramic-metal composite material is produced by meansof, presureless infiltration method using MgAl2O4 and Ti-Fe alloys.Atmospheric conditions, Ti-Fe/MgAl2O4 ratio, infiltration time andinfiltration temperature are chosen as a experimentalparameters. An oxidation on the surface of Ti particules wereobserved under at in air 1600ºC and different times. Titaniumalloys was saccesfully infiltrated under Ar atmosphere into thespecimen kept in the furnace for 30 and 120 minutes. Theinfiltrated Ti-Fe alloys caharacterazed using SEM equpied withEDS. While the hardness of pure titanium is 160 HV, this valuesincreased to 1915 HV.Science Code: 946Key Words :Titanium, infiltration, cermet, spinel, fly ash.Page Number :82Advisers :Doç.Dr.Metin GÜRÜ, Yrd.Doç.Dr.A.
