Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis study is to add Tantalum element to Ti-6Al-7Nb alloy, which is a new biomaterial, at different rates instead of V and to design a new alloy by using arc-melting method in order to eliminate the health problems caused by the release of V ions in Ti-6Al-4V biomaterials. The effect of the addition of Ta element at different rates (Ti-6Al-(7-x)Nb-xTa) on the microstructural and mechanical properties of the Ti-6Al-7Nb alloy to be obtained was examined. In order to determine the microstructural properties of the samples; SEM, EDX, XRD and DSC analyses were performed. Microhardness and wear tests were performed to determine their mechanical properties. Consequently, it was determined that the Ta element added at 1, 2 and 3% improved the microstructural and mechanical properties of the new biomaterial produced, and the increasing addition of Tantalum increased both hardness and wear resistance. The optimal hardness and wear test results were determined in 3% reinforced biomaterial.
