The level of educational techniques used by teachers working at vocational commercial high schools

In this research, the level of educational techniques used by teachers working at vocational commercial high schools, the obstacles that prevent them from using those techniques and their attitudes towards using educational techniques were analyzed.The domain of the study is constituted by a total of 2218 teachers using at Vocational Commercial High Schools and Anatolian Vocational Commercial High Schools located within the boundaries of the Istanbul province and the sample domain is constituted by 241 teachers using at (number of schools) schools randomly picked. However, only 233 surveys could be involved under the scope of assessment as some were not qualified for this purpose.The data of the study has been collected by survey and the analysis of this data has been effected by means of the SPSS 9.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software.Comparison of demographic characteristics to the utilization of training technologies has revealed not a considerable difference except for the gender variable in utilizing computer or internet-based new technologies.Among the reasons for non-effective utilization of training technologies in Vocational Commercial High Schools have been observed to be the factors such as inappropriate physical conditions of schools, paucity or deficiency of such technologies at schools.It has been recognized that teachers widely use traditional training instruments such as blackboard (65,7%) and book (51,1%) as well as new technological means such as computers, internet and training CDs.Majority of teachers (88%) have been found to exhibit a constructive attitude towards utilizing the training technologies in terms of drawing the interest to the topic, teaching the topic effectively, meeting the expected objectives and making significant contribution to covering the topic.
