ABSTRACT PhÖ THESIS INVESTIGATION OF HISTOPATHOLOGICAL FINDINGS AND BLOOD PARAMETERS OF TELAPIA, INFECTED WITH STREPTOCOCCUS INIAE A.Erdera DÖNMEZ DEPARTMENT OF FISHERIES INSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES UNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVA Supervisor : Prof. Dr. Ibrahim CENGİZLER Year 2002, Pages 71 Jury: Prof.Dr. Ibrahim CENGİZLER Prof.Dr. GürkanEKİNGEN Prof.Dr. İhsan AKYURT Asst.Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ali GÖKÇE Asst.Prof Dr. Aysel SAHAN In this experiment, the macroscobic and microscobic pathological findings and some of the changes in blood parameters have been studied in Oreochromis niloticus infected with Streptococcus iniae intraperitoneally. The bacterial solution was prepared in dosages of 103, 104, 105 and 10s cfu. The intensive lymphocyte and macrophage infiltration was evident in the secondary lamellae in gills and the same was also spotted in areas belong to gill arches. Both the enlargements and congestions of liver sinusoids and hepatocytes degenerations were found. In addition to this, there was on infiltration of lymphocytes and macrophages of the sinusoids. Hie swollen tubuler epitheliums of intersititiums the degenerations of focal areas and intensive lymphocytes and macrophages infiltration in parenchymal tissues in kidneys were also observed. The degenerations in anterior and posterior sections and infiltrations of lymphocytes and macrophages in mucosal and submucosal layers of digestive tract were identified. The myocarditis charecterized by intensive lymphocytes and macrophages infiltration in myocard fibrils was also evident. The bacterial colonies were also observed in sinusoids of spleen tissues. There was a difference in the values of hematocrit and blood electrolytes in respect to the differences in bacterial dosages used during this experiment. Key words : Tilapia (O. niloticus), S. iniae, Histopathology, Hematocrit, Blood Electrolytes II
