Abstract (EN)

Tillo, which is 9 km away from the city centre and is one of the six disctricts of the Siirt province, is neighbors with Şirven in the North, and with Eruh and Siirt in the west. This thesis is the conservation-restoration and landscaping works carried out in the region for the purpose of bringing the historical cemetery of Tillo to faith tourism. The 2020 excavation season works are the continuation of the works that were left incomplete in the years of 2018 and 2019. First of all, green grass and plants with harmful root sctructures were cleaned from the cemetery area. Then, the spoila stones in the area have been renumbered. After the determination of the tombs to which these qualified spoila stones belonged, these stones were consolidated by means of restoration principles and restoration methods carried out in accordance with the permission of the conservation committee. The cleaning of the biological (lichen) and chemical (darkening) deteriorations in the tombstones were provided by mechanical and chemical methods. The cracks in the tombstones were covered with mortar and the missing parts of the tombstones were filled with limestone as well as mortar. Additionally, an interior wall was built in the cemetery area, and the grouting process was done on the set wall. The cemetery was brought to faith tourism with its restoration works being completed in 2020, and the landscaping works which were completed in 2021.
