Özet (EN)

This study examines Ulugh Beg's studies, especially in the field of astronomy, within the framework of scientific activities carried out in the Timurid State established in the 15th century. It examines the grounds on which the Timurids, who continued the tradition of scientific activities in Central Asia, had in doing so and how they transformed Samarkand, which was destroyed by the Mongols, into the pearl of the East. In this study, first of all, general information about the Timurids and the city of Samarkand was given from various aspects, and then the focus was on Ulugh Beg's scientific studies. During this period when scientific activities reached their peak in Timurid history, madrasahs and observatories were built to contribute to science. As a result, the scholars who were trained here and the scientific activities carried out both illuminated that period and shed light on their successors. Keywords: Timurids, Science, Samarqand, Ulugh Beg, Madressa, Zic, Observatory
