Systematic review of cost-effectiveness for type 2 diabetes

One of the rapidly spreading illnesses ? affecting quality of life negatively and bringing along many financial costs together ? is diabetes, which has been called as `modern epidemic? of today. 90% of the diabetes patients constitute Type 2 diabetes patients and this is a disorder which induces diabetes-related complications and also leads to millions of dollars (sometimes in some cases ? billions of dollars) of burden of diseases not only in developed countries but also in developing countries alike.Since diabetes both affects quality of life adversely and brings about considerable burden of disease in the budgets, the costs should be reduced in some way. Thus cost effectiveness analyses bear a great significance for the countries balancing their budgets. These analysers serve as guidelines for the decision-makers.Following and analysing the academic studies published on cost-effectiveness would be of great help for the decision making process, becoming informative and guiding.This study, aiming at analysing the cost-effectiveness of Type 2 diabetes, is based on the following terms: systematic review, cost-effectiveness and Type 2 Diabetes.This study, together with its limitations, aims at determining the cost effectiveness of Type 2 diabetes and literature has been analyzed in this field. This study is believed to be helpful and guiding for the decision makers in the field of healthcare.Key Words: cost-effectiveness, type 2 diabetes, systematic review, analysis.
