Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of our reseach is to indicate the cardiovascular disease risk factor related exercise capacity and lipid profile with flexibility body composition and glisemic control on newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic individuals after supervised, evidence ? based combined aerobic, resistance and flexibility exercise program.Method and Materials: 2 women 4 men 6 subjects in exercise group, 5 women 5 men 10 subjects in control group, totally 16 newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes subjects were included in the study. Exercise group attended to exercise program for 12 weeks period. Subjects? body composition were evaluated with Inbody 720 equipment by impedance method. Flexibility test were evaluated with sit and reach test and lateral flexion test. Aerobic capacity was assessed with Astrand bicycle ergometer test. Blood pressures and heart rate were assessed during the exercise test. Lipid profile, fasting and postparandial glucose and Hemoglobin A1c were assessed with biochemistry laboratory tests. Subjects were compared as within groups and between groups. SPSS 15.0 Program was used for the statistical analysis. Results: Mean age was 55.16 ± 8.10 years fort he exercise group and 57.80 ± 10.06 years for the control group. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups according to the demographic variables (p > 0.05). Body fat decreased, sit and reach test and aerobic capacity increased after the exercise program, these variables showed statistically significant difference within the groups (p < 0.05). triglisrid cholesterol and postparandial glucose levels showed statistically significantly decrease after the exercise program within the groups (p < 0.05). HDL, LDL and total cholesterol levels did not change ( p > 0.05). Only post exercise fasting glucose and hemoglobin A1c levels showed statistically significant difference between exercise and control groups as evaluated between the groups (p < 0.05).Conclusion: 12 weeks combined exercise program improved the aerobic capacity and flexiblity, control the body fat and decreased the cardiovascular disease risk factor with glycemic control, thus this is an effective exercise program for type 2 diabetic individuals.
