Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplement use on healthy eating attitudes and sleep quality in women diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and vitamin D deficiency. A total of 48 female individuals aged between 25-64 were included in the study The sociodemographic characteristics, biochemical findings, anthropometric measurements, and retrospective 24-hour food consumption records of the participants who were referred to a dietician and diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency were recorded at the first interview; Healthy eating attitudes (Attitudes Towards Healthy Nutrition Scale - ATHNS) and sleep quality (Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index - PSQI) were evaluated. Participants were informed about healthy nutrition and diabetes management by the research dietitian. The use of supplements in patients with vitamin D deficiency was determined by the physician as 7 weeks, and the participants were referred to the research dietician again at the 4th week and at the end of the 7th week.Supplement use was determined by the physician as 7 weeks, and the participants were referred to the researcher dietitian again at the 4th week and at the end of the 7th week. At the end of the 7th week after the vitamin D supplement, the participants' anthropometric measurements, ATHNS and PSQI scales, and food consumption records were repeated. A significant decrease was observed in the individuals' body weight, body mass index, waist circumference and hip circumference measurements recorded in the first and second stages (p <0.05). The average score of the individuals in the first interview of the ATHNS was 62.25±10.07, and the average score in the last interview was 79.62±9 (p<0.05). While 25% of the patients had good sleep quality at the first interview, it was determined that 72.9% of the participants had good sleep quality according to the sleep quality evaluated at the last interview (p<0.05). As a result, in individuals with vitamin D deficiency, vitamin D supplementation and consultation with a dietitian about healthy nutrition and diabetes management improved the PSQI and ATHNS scores of the individuals. Key Words: Vitamin D, healthy nutrition, type 2 diabetes, sleep quality
