Enamels are the products which are obtained from the application of vitreous coatings to metal substrates. Their strength, and corrosion and abrasion resistance is high owing to metal substrate and enamel. In application areas they are in touch with liquids, gases and chemicals at various temperatures. Therefore, chemical durability of their surfaces has to be so high.During enamel production, substances, which increase the chemical durability, have to be added to enamel composition to have high durable surfaces. But these substances rise the melting temperature of the enamel. Hence production doesn?t be economical. Instead of this, it is more economical to coat the surface of enamels. The aim of this study is to increase the chemical durability of the titan white cover coat enamel with coating. With this aim AlCl3 coatings, which was experienced before on glasses by TU BERGAKADEMIE FREIBERG-GERMANY, was experienced on enamels in TU BERGAKADEMIE FREIBERG Laboratories of Department of Glass.In this study, coating temperature and the amount of AlCl3, which have gave the best result, was determined and TS tests were applied to these samples. Also parameters, which affect the chemical durability, surface roughness and surface energy effects, were investigated.The best results were gotten at 600 ºC with 0,022 g AlCl3 coating. According to TS tests, there was 80% increase in chemical durability. At the end of surface roughness measurements, it was determined that roughness doesn?t affect the chemical durability of the titan white cover coat enamels. At the end of surface energy measurements and calculations the lowest values were obtained in determined conditions and it was proved that surface energy is effective in chemical durability.
