Evaluation of effect of titanium barrier and graft materials on guided bone regeneration: An experimental study

Aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of different applications as titanium barrier, blood clot and graft materials on guided bone regeneration.Thirty six adult male, aged 3-3,5 month, New Zealand white rabbits were used. Four different training group was formed. In the first group only a titanium barrier was placed into bone. In the second group a titanium barrier with peripheral blood was placed into bone. In the third group titanium barrier with tricalcium phosphat (Ostrix®-B, Tesla AG, Gunten, Switzerland) was placed into bone. In the fourth group a titanium barrier with xenogenic graft (Apatos mix, Osteobiol®,Italy) was placed into bone. During the 15th, 30th, 90th day of after surgery procedure, animals were sacrified and samples evaluated with histopathological and histomorphometric analysis.Results showed that different four applications of GBR were formed new bone. However, there was no difference between four group act of new mineralised bone amount and percentage values. Also, new bone avarage height values showed that no difference between four group during 90th day.
