Abstract (EN)

Every field of life and therefore of art is composed of duality of woman and man. The duality while proceeding in the shadow of inequality between gender, it is represented in the same form in the history of theater. It is seen that the woman as a part of the male-dominant, patriarchal system, has appeared on the theatre stage in social gender inequality, under the influence of typical judgments of society. Transgender identities have recently taken a place in theatre. The transgender characters have been figured in theater with the plays written mostly after 2013. The transgender actors have carried their presence on the stage with the aim of narrating their own stories and of stating "I exist, too." to the theatre world. It is seen that the transgender characters in the script have been acted on the stage by biologically female and male actors. The idea of acting the transgender character by a transgender actor is a topic to think about and to discuss in terms of a complete reality perception of audience. In consequence of this study, 22 scripts which contain transgender characters have been determined and examined; 5 transgender actors, Denise TÜRKKAN, Esmeray, Seyhan ARMAN, Berk İNAN, Mert KÜÇÜLMEZ have been interviewed. It is aimed to enhance different point views with this study, which has been coalesced with the question of which gender identical roles should be acted by transgender actors.
