Abstract (EN)
The propaganda which aims to direct the intellectual and behavioral changes of the targeted population to the desired way has the ability to use lots of branches of art as an instrument. In this sense, it can be said that the propaganda also uses the theatre as an instrument as much as it makes use of other branches of art. The theatre has an undeniable effect on the population like other branches of art. Thus, the theatre is important in the sense that it is close to the society and it appeals to the conscience of the societies in every period. In addition to this, the audience of the theatre doesn't even need to be literate. Therefore, the audience from all social groups can get the messages given at the theatres. This effects have made it inevitable that propaganda entered in the working area of the theatre. Epic theatres have played an essential role in convincing a large number of audience. The wars have an important place in the history of nations. From this point of view, the wars in the Turkish history should also be counted among the most important events. The war formed a basis for emerging the literature of war in the field of literature in addition to the destruction, boundary changes and political and economical crisis which it causes. Our work has been prepared to research the fact that during the Cretan Issue, the Tripoli War and the Balkan Wars the aforementioned events were reflected in the theatre and on that sense the theatre was made an instrument for proganda even if its roots date earlier times. The answer to the question how the theatre was used as an instrument for propaganda in order to gain the support of the society while the Cretan Issue, the Tripoli War and the Balkan Wars formed a basis for the loss of Ottoman lands as well as the loss of a considerable amount of people is tried to be analyzed using the texts of the theatre productions which belong to that period.
