Abstract (EN)

AN ANALYSIS THE CLAY LAYERS DF TDKAT-ERBAA DISTRICT AS BRICK-TILE PRODUCT (M.Sc. Thesis) Ahmet ESMERAY GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY October 1987 ABSTRACT T:o prevent the earth industry araund lokat-Erbaa province from using the agricultural raw material, the earth which has been decided as alternative around Üç- peler and Karaağaç vicinities has been tested by be ing mixed at certain proportions (2/1). The distances of the material areas to the center of production is 15 kilometers to Üçtepeler and 17 kilo meters to Karaağaç. Which are emphasized, the areas, the experiment of guarterner sand, qravel and clay. Calcite and quartz are also dependent in texture. The thicknes of the clay layers varies from 100 to 400 cms. There are sandstones uhicih have 5 or 10 cms thicknees between the layers.The samples have been ground about 1 mm in accor dance to TS.1901. According to the criteris in TS 4792 and TS 7D5: The water of plasticity, the ability of molding, the degree of drying up, the horizontal shrink of drying, strength against dry-breaking, the degree of cooking and the color, total linear shrinking, hardness the ability of water absorbing, strength against pressure, the harmful calcium magnesium and the strength against frost have been tested and determined. The both alternative areas are of class seven ag ricultural value and are soft and medium hard küskülük class. Total reserves 5.535.074 m3 in capacity which will prowide the repuired materials for Erbaa earth industry estimated for about 2k years. By mixing two units from Üçtepeler area, one unit from Karaağaç and heating at 1DQ0 C will provide a stan dart brick and tile product. VI
