Abstract (EN)

Gallstones are a chronic disease that not only affects the quality of life of people, but also causes the risk of developing pancreatitis, cholecystitis, biliary tract obstruction and gallbladder cancer and significant economic costs. Additionally, they often occur without symptoms. Preventing or treating the risk factors other than the unchangeable risks for the formation of gallstones will provide benefits in order to prevent the deterioration of the quality of life and morbidity and mortality caused by gallstones. In our single-center retrospective study, the adult population admitted to Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Hospital between 2011 and 2020 was scanned. In addition to the demographic data of 999 patients diagnosed with cholelithiasis, when laboratory values, accompanying diseases and risky drug use were examined, it was seen that the incidence of gallstones was increased in individuals with diabetes and dyslipidemia, in elderly female obese individuals, and in female patients receiving hormone replacement therapy. Unlike the literature, in terms of malignancy association, breast cancer was in the first place. The association with colon cancer followed soon after. Unlike the literature, there was a negative correlation between increase in body mass index and gallstones in male patients. The association of diabetes, obesity, breast and colon cancer with the risk of cholelithiasis submits that diet maybe important in terms of common etiology and foreseens that common risks can be reduced with proper diet. Keywords: Gallstones, obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, hormone replacement
