Özet (EN)

In addition to revealing many positive or negative effects, the attitudes of the leaders towards the employees in the enterprises can cause alienation from the work and as a result, the intention of the employees to leave the job. It is very important for leaders to be constantly exposed to technological developments and changes in the globalizing world and to be able to direct their subordinates by using the power they have in the right way. The power obtained by the leaders can also occur in the form of negative behaviors that are described as toxic over time. The aim of the study is to examine the effect of toxic leadership behavior on work alienation and turnover intention. In this context, the theoretical part of the research was formed by scanning the literature on toxic leadership behavior, work alienation and intention to quit. After the theoretical part created by the literature review, the variables were determined and the relationship between them was examined, and the model and hypotheses of the research were formed. The research was presented to white-collar employees in the form of a questionnaire, and the data obtained were analyzed by evaluating with statistical techniques. The questionnaire, which included 388 participants, was administered in the form of Personal Information Form, Toxic Leadership Scale, Work Alienation Scale and Intention to Leave the Work Scale. The scales were delivered to the participants online and analyzed with the İBM SPSS 22.0 program. As a result of the research, it was concluded that toxic leadership has a significant effect on work alienation and turnover intention.
