Özet (EN)

This thesis titled Tomographic Portraits comprises mainly visual and ideational explanations for the traumas suffered by the individual with interrogations through identity policies of the system. While mentioning of manipulation of the values embracing the individual in life, and the individual?s getting used to this and loosing his/her awareness over time, it was intended to illustrate the physical and psychological violence suffered by the individual striving to maintain his/her distinction and awareness. Tomographic Portraits created by the interventions on head and neck tomographies shot for the patients coming to the emergency service of a hospital criticize the violence committed by the system through policies. While the hospital could be the place of treatment for the physical trauma being suffered, there is no hospital which is able to treat the wounds caused by psychological trauma on the individual. Restricting the studies to portrait is correlated with the fact that it is the only medium where all the moods pertaining to the individual could be read artlessly. In Tomographic Portraits, the deformation created in the portrait expresses the individual with his/her identity and life perception changed. An individual who is capable to maintain his/her identity is expressed by the distinct portrait among identical portraits in a series of multiple portraits.
