JIT PRODUCTION SYSTEM FOR TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT Keywords: Production Systems, Total Quality Management, Just In Time. The JIT concept was originally developed in Japan in the mid-1970's by the Toyota Motor Company. To understand why the JIT Production system developed, it is important to know a little about the history and culture of Japan. Japan is a small country with minimal resources and a large population. Thus, the Japanese have always been careful not to waste resources, including space as well as time and labor. Always, the Japanese have been motivated to maximize the gain or yield from the few resources available. As a result, their work habits tend to reflect this philosophy of minimizing waste and maintaining respect for each other. JIT takes its name from the idea of replenishing material buffers just when they are needed and not before or after. In this way, the waste of expensive materials being idle while awaiting processing is eliminated, as well as the waste of expensive resources waiting for late materials: scrap, defective products, un-needed space, unnecessary inventories, idle facilities, and so on. Li this study, the philosophy and techniques of JIT production system for Total Quality Management are described and discussed. The examples with JIT are given. Results indicated that the JIT implementation success is very good and useful for all of the companies.
