Total quality management and strategic leadership

The aim of this study was to determine the views of teachers about Total Quality Management and Strategic Leadership, the relationship between Total Quality Management and Strategic Leadership out in primary schools and related to this relationship develop suggestions for the practitioners.The survey has been applied to 437 teachers working in 24 primary schools within the boundaries of the İzmir Province Metropolitan Municipality in the 2008-2009 academic year. The data for the research have been collected with two inventories entitled as: ? Total Quality Management in Education? and ? The Applies for Strategic Leadership of School Manager?s?. The analysis of research was done by Frequency Distribution, Simple Correlation, One Way Variance, t test and F statistics. In addition, the relationship between the Total Quality Management in Education and The Applies for Strategic Leadership of School Manager?s was determined by Pearson Correlation based on the data obtained.The characteristic leadership of school manager is significantly important in the application and improvement of Total Quality Management in schools. The school managers are insufficient about teachers? personal development regarding to the application of Total Quality Management and developing of school with all aspects.The applications about determining the strategies of school managers are successful about making strategies but it should be improved. The Total Quality Management on education depends on the school managers? approach and behaviors.
