Abstract (EN)
Social contract is paraphrased as a discipline that foresees individual focused institutionalization of social power and attempts to clarify the fundamental rights of an individual on a legal platform. Social contract as a contentious in the aspect of political history, had an intitutive meaning with Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau with the Modern Age. Social contract theory have importance for forming the ontology of constitutional files that being endeavoured to be shaped on a reconciling platform. In this study, social contract disciplines which gained a philosophical meaning by human nature, state of nature and natural law terms are examined comparative with Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau. At the first part of the study, starting with the Ancient Greek Sophists at the political ideas history, contract theory seen at Platon and Epicureans is discussed. In the Middle Ages, especially the Priest Manegold's discipline which he presented for limiting the authority of King and the discipline of Althusius and Grotius as the first contractarian theoreticians of Modern Age are included at the second part of the study. Contract theories that Hobbes tried to explain with "security", Locke with "consent" and Rousseau with "common will" terms are discussed comparatively at the third part of the study. The theme of the study is being presented with the arguments of Hobbes's giving "limitless" power to the dominant, Locke's "right of resistance" which he gave to the public and Rousseau's identification the dominant with "public".
