Abstract (EN)
Today, globalization transition to export-based industrialization and localization of industries from developed countries to developing countries lead to an increase in informal employment. As a cheap and flexible workforce, the sector often prefers women. Considering its content and results the home services sector, on the other hand, constitutes the informal business area where women work, by separating them from other jobs. However, despite working mostly women in the world and home services in Turkey make up important part of creating number they are not perceived as employees don't appear in official statistics. The aim of the study is to determine how gender inequality is reproduced and how women's laborers are exposed to labor exploitation based on the women working in daily life. Another aim is to identify the problems of working women as a daily worker and to make suggestions to the solution of these problems. In this context, the study has been conducted by qualitative research method. In this study, phenomenology from qualitative research patterns has been used. Thus, it has been aimed to reach the perceptions and experiences of the everyday women. The study was carried out with 20 women residing in Pendik. In-depth interviews were conducted using semi-structured interview form. The interviews were recorded by voice recorder and written down. The data were interpreted by descriptive analysis and discourse analysis. As a result of the research, it has been seen that women prefer this work area at their own homes for years and because they do not have the knowledge and ability to do other jobs, they prefer having flexible working hours to maintain the balance between home. In the study areas, they encountered many problems such as wages, insurance, work accidents, informality, psychological and physiological problems and they were exposed to labor exploitation due to the uncertainty of job descriptions. It has been observed that there are many changes in the personal and social lives of women, but gender inequality, gender-based division of labor and patriarchal structure continune as well.
