Urban space practices of generation Z women in the context of gender

The domestic roles attributed to women by the patriarchal system, which continues from the past to the present, lead to the positioning of women in the private sphere and men in the public sphere. Men, who are widespread in the public sphere, also determine the gender of the urban space. Gender norms that have been passed down from generation to generation still cause women to not be able to have equal rights and freedoms with men in urban space today. Women who encode themselves as the powerless party in urban space with the dictates that the inside of the house is safe and the outside is dangerous have accepted and internalized the restriction of their spatial freedoms. In this study, the urban space access practices of women who are secondarized by the norms of the patriarchal system will be examined through generation Z women. The study group of the resarch consists of 20 women belonging to generation Z living in 15 different cities. The extent to which the women of generation Z in a libertarian generation are free and visible in their urban space experiences will be tried to be revealed using the phenomenology pattern.
