Abstract (EN)
With recent developments women are more involved in working life. However, depend on patriarchal understanding of society and gender roles, there are not enough female leaders in the senior manager levels in Turkey. Every discipline defines leadership its own point of view and it had carries different meanings according to social culture, knowledge and perspective. In order to managerial activities to be carried out healthy manner, its essential managers have leadership qualities and gender equality must be ensured in management Aim of this study is reveal to difference between men and women' leadership styles by explaining findings of men and women managers in health care system in terms of women's studies and gender perspective. In this context, firstly the concepts of leadership, women leadership, patriarchy, sex and gender are explained and with another study that will make base for actual research including number of managers of university hospitals in Turkey was carried out. Turkey featured results of the study that carried out among managers of university hospital in Turkey. Subsequently, interview was conducted with a qualitative data collection method, in-depth interviewing technique for total of 22 people, 11 female and 11 male, who served as assistant chiefs and managers at management levels of Akdeniz University Hospital. Results are interpreted in the context of feminist theories. According to the results, negative effects of gender and patriarchal understanding are also seen in managerial levels and women's job life can be negatively affected. It has been found that male and female participants agree that in social structures where patriarchal understanding prevails, working life of women is adversely affected and it is difficult to become a leader. Social perception also affects women's self-perception, and women can see themselves primarily as a partner and a mother. But both male and female managers participant of our survey stated that leadership is not about gender, but that managerial success can be achieved with his or her own efforts and desires. Men and women in business must be equal as should be in every area in society. With improvement of society's perception, women will have more say in management.
