Özet (EN)

Gender is the responsibilities and roles assigned to women and men by society. Subjectively evaluating the pleasure of individuals from their sexual activities is explained as sexual satisfaction. Sexual self confidence is that individuals can experience and share their sexual desires and feelings freely and expressing easily themselves sexually. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of gender roles on sexual satisfaction and sexual self-confidence. A total of 413 people participated in this study. 230 of the participants are women and 183 of the participants are men. The participants are between the ages of 18-55 and they were selected randomly. Sociodemographic information form, Gender Roles Attitude Scale (GRAS), Golombok-Rust Sexual Satisfaction Inventory (GRISS) and Sexual Self-Confidence Scale (SSCS) were given to the participants online by the researcher. The data obtained from the scales applied to the participants were analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Sciences) 25.0 statistical package program. There are some significant sociodemographic differences. Significant relationships were found between GRAS and gender and marital status. Significant relationships were found between the GRISS total score and some of its subscales, gender and marital status. While the sexual self-confidence scale does not show a significant difference according to gender, there is a significant difference between marital status and subscales except sexual awareness. In the study, there are statistically significant relationships between gender roles and sexual satisfaction and sexual self-confidence. As a result of the regression analysis made between variables with significant relationships, gender roles explain 4% of the change in sexual satisfaction. The positive perspective about the traditional gender role, which is the sub-dimension of GRAS, has a positive effect on sexual satisfaction. Gender roles explain 12% of the change in sexual self-confidence. The positive perspective about the female gender role, which is the sub-dimension of GRAS, has a positive effect on sexual self-confidence. Considering the findings of the study, it is observed that when individuals have a more egalitarian attitude, their sexual satisfaction and sexual self-confidence are higher.
