Abstract (EN)

Generally, art movements which take its resources from public life, social facts and values and create a form language by an expression towards people, during and after republican revolutions have been effective and heavily interacted with economic and political progress in the USA, Mexico, Russia, and Germany. Artists who adopt a social and critical attitude have been classified in art movements as realism, social realism, socialist realism, critical realism. Their stance was parallel to republican and socialist ideas that appeared with modern age.Democratic social activities in western art have constituted a resource for social content and form of Turkish painting and have impacted on it to produce its own local resources and its own progress parallel to the Turkish political history and social phenomena. By reason of the specific character of Turkish history, composing artwork?s content and form by social phenomena, has caused the Turkish social painting to form a specific character especially in respect of critical attitude. After artworks of painters who have been chosen beyond the Turkish artists who created a sophisticated language and maintained a social attitude intently, are analyzed, it?s obvious that form language of Turkish social realism is adequately integrated to have ability in analyzing contemporary social and natural facts and making aesthetic judgments.
