vWEIGHTED APPROXIMATION PROPERTIESBY SUMMATION INTEGRAL TYPE OPERATORS(M. Sc. Thesis)Halime Mücella DEM RHAN ÇAVUŞOĞLUGAZ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYOctober 2006ABSTRACTIn this thesis, we investigated the weighted approximation properties of acertain summation integral type linear positive operators Mn introduced byAgrawal and Thamer. Firstly, the degree of approximation of the sequence ofthese operators is given by usual modulus of continuity and weightedapproximation properties of the continuous functions defined [0,â), havingâpolynomial growth at infinity, are investigated by the operators Mn.Furthermore, the rate of convergence of the operators Mn is estimated in termsof the weighted modulus of continuity. Finally, the properties of simultaneousapproximation are studied by these operators.Science Code : 204.1.095Key Words : Summation integral type operators, Rate of convergence,Simultaneous convergencePage Number : 69Adviser : Assoc.
