The Qur'an on social issues -The example of Surah al-Maun-

Sūrat al-Māʿūn is among the concise chapters of the Qur'ān that eloquently convey the extent of injustice and the disruption of social balance prevailing in the society at the time of its revelation. It continues to serve as a guide for humanity in addressing similar issues that persist in the modern era. Our study, which focuses specifically on Sūrat al-Māʿūn, is composed of an introduction, two main chapters, and a conclusion. In the introduction, we outline the subject and significance of our research, its scope and objectives, the methodology adopted, and the sources consulted. Furthermore, we examine previous academic works related to the topic, thereby elucidating the contribution our study seeks to make to the existing body of literature. The first chapter discusses the treatment of the individual and society in the Qur'ān. It explores the personal and social problems that existed during the pre-prophetic period and at the time of the revelation of Sūrat al-Māʿūn. These conditions, which laid the groundwork for the chapter's revelation, are examined through reference to primary sources. In this context, the Qur'ān's general approach to social issues is also explained, supported by illustrative examples. The second chapter, which constitutes the main focus of our research and served as the primary impetus for this study, is devoted to Sūrat al-Māʿūn itself. This section begins by presenting general information about the chapter, followed by a classification of data concerning its revelation and the subjects it addresses. The societal issues highlighted in the chapter are identified and discussed in detail, and the Qur'ānic solutions proposed in response to these problems are elaborated upon.
